Skin care
In winter, our skin reacts irritably to the freezing cold outside and dry, warm heated air inside. It is less well supplied with blood, loses moisture, becomes tight, itchy and red. Time for an extra dose of care! Natural cosmetics are recommended. For example, they do not use mineral oil-based substances (such as kerosenes or silicones), synthetic preservatives or microplastics.
Alternatively, you can easily make your own cosmetics. We have four do-it-yourself recipes for skin and hair.
Lip balm - for chapped lips
Ingredients for approx. 30 ml:- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp shea butter
- ½ tsp beeswax, as a vegan alternative carnauba or candelilla wax
- 1 tsp olive oil
Preparation: Melt the coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax in a bain-marie over a low heat. Then remove the bowl from the bain-marie and stir in the olive oil. Allow the mixture to cool to lukewarm while stirring constantly. Finally, pour the lip balm into a small jar and leave to harden with the lid open.
Application & shelf life: Apply to the lips as required. The balm is also suitable as intensive care for all other rough skin areas and has a shelf life of around six months.
Avocado face mask - for dry skin
Ingredients for one mask:- 2 tablespoons ripe avocado
- 1 tbsp yogurt or quark
Preparation: Mash the avocado with a spoon and mix it with the yogurt (or quark). Then apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then simply rinse off with clear water.
Body peeling - for better blood circulation and soft skin
Ingredients for 100 g shower scrub:- 70 g fine sea salt
- 2-3 tbsp (approx. 40 ml) organic vegetable oil
Preparation: Mix the sea salt and oil well in a bowl until you have a compact mixture that is roughly the consistency of wet sand. The salt should not "float" in the oil. Then pour the scrub into a jar or preserving jar.
Application & shelf life: Massage a handful of scrub onto the skin in the shower and then rinse off. Avoid the face and décolleté. Do not use the scrub on open or sore skin, as the salt will sting. The product can be kept for about three months. Avoid getting water into the product. This extends the shelf life enormously!
Banana olive oil hair treatment - for dry, brittle hair
Ingredients for a hair treatment:- one organic banana
- 1 teaspoon organic olive oil
Preparation: Mash the banana and add the olive oil. Distribute the mixture through the hair and leave the treatment on for approx. ten minutes. Then rinse thoroughly.
The inner values are also important
Drinking plenty of water, preferably two liters a day, is no longer an insider tip. But did you know how good beet and Brussels sprouts are for our skin thanks to their high vitamin B content? The vitamin C in citrus fruits supports collagen formation for normal skin function, but vitamin C also helps to protect our body's cells from oxidative stress.
Vitamins A, B2 and B7 (biotin) and the trace element iodine also contribute to the maintenance of normal skin, while zinc and biotin also support the maintenance of normal hair. By the way: With the ingredients from Biotin Compact, Vitamin C Compact or also the Skin, Hair, Nails Complex support the normal function of your skin in various ways.
