Naturland Spirulina (organic) from GSE: the green-blue superfood from the water
Spirulina is one of the oldest known organisms . Even early cultures such as the Aztecs or Mayans scooped it out of shallow, alkaline waters and used it for nutritional purposes. The fact that they many vital nutrients such as iron were of course not yet aware of this.
One of the most amazing properties of spirulina is its enormous hunger for CO2: the more of it is available, the better the little powerhouse grows - and not only produces chlorophyll but also a lot of oxygen. In fact, spirulina and its relatives are thought to have made a significant contribution to enriching the Earth's primordial atmosphere!
Incidentally, the classification of spirulina as a microalgae is outdated. Today we know that it is a microscopically small, spirally coiled (hence the name!) cyanobacterium - and cyan means "blue". You can see this, for example, when you dissolve spirulina powder in water: it first turns green and after a short time turns an intense turquoise blue. The food industry therefore uses the corresponding concentrates as harmless blue colorants. However, spirulina has aroused the interest of nutritional researchers not because of its pretty color, but because of its its favorable nutrient composition .
Source of iron ... and more
Spirulina, for example, is a good source of iron - the very mineral we so urgently need for blood formation and the immune system and a normal cognitive function need. Growth and high stress load are just some of the phases of life in which we need more iron. Above all women often have low iron levels, especially when strong menstrual bleeding deplete iron stores every month. The same applies when the body is in Pregnancy and breastfeeding a second baby during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Spirulina can therefore make a good contribution as a supplement to a balanced diet. The additional consumption of specialized iron supplements such as our IronVital Complex is also a good option. The liquid preparation combines plant-based iron from the curry leaf with 6 tasty direct juices.
100 % spirulina, 100 % free from additives
The special talent of most algae to filter pesticides out of the water, for example, unfortunately leads to these substances accumulating in the algae. That is why proven GSE contract partners cultivate the certified organic spirulina blue-green algae for our products in organic aquaculture according to the strict guidelines of the Naturland farming association - and not in sea water, but in drinking water. We can therefore rule out residues of heavy metals, microplastics or radioactivity with almost complete certainty.
Fillers or coatings are also taboo for our spirulina tablets: just like the powder, they actually consist of 100% gently dried and finely ground spirulina. This is why they are also known as "pellets" in technical jargon.
Spirulina powder or spirulina tablets: The right dosage form for everyone
Are you more of a tablet or juice or smoothie type? It doesn't matter - at GSE you have the choice between Spirulina tablets and easily soluble spirulina powder . Both have their own advantages: Tablets are great to take with you and can be consumed quickly on the go. The powder dissolves in water, juices and smoothies well in water, juices and smoothies, but is also an exciting idea for mueslis or bowls . Why not serve sea blue overnight oats (oat flakes soaked overnight with a little spirulina powder) with blueberries or even blue scrambled eggs!
