The blood rain algae (Haematococcus pluvialis) is a microalgae known for its impressive red coloration, which it increasingly produces under difficult living conditions as a protective reaction. Responsible for this is the carotenoid astaxanthin, which is also found in various types of fruit and vegetables and also causes the characteristic coloration of salmon and flamingos, for example. The natural selenium for our BIO Astaxanthin + Selenium capsules comes from an organic mustard seed extract. Black mustard (Brassica nigra) is a plant species from the genus Brassica in the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae). Selenium helps to protect cells from oxidative stress. The grape seed concentrate powder comes exclusively from grapes cultivated according to the rules of organic farming. Grape seeds are rich in natural OPCs (oligomeric proanthycyanidins). OPCs are classified as secondary plant substances, which are used by plants as defense substances against harmful external, environmental influences, among other things.
The astaxanthin for our organic astaxanthin+selenium capsules comes from the green algae Haematococcus pluvialis, which is cultivated in the Krkonose Mountains National Park in the Czech Republic in glass tube photobioreactors in accordance with EU organic farming guidelines. The modern glass tube photobioreactors are fed with the purest mountain spring water, which meets the strict requirements for the production of baby food and is certified for this purpose. The ultra-modern process enables an unusually high astaxanthin concentration of at least 5% in the microalgae biomass.
